Like many families, the Shou family once dreamed of a home shaped by quiet, beauty, and a slower pace of life. That dream led them to a farm on Bainbridge Island, to forest and open land they hoped to call their own.
Living with the land soon reshaped the dream. Its beauty felt too generous to be held by one family alone. This place seemed meant not for isolation, but for welcome.
That question became Joyland—a place shaped by care, presence, and purpose, where land is shared thoughtfully and gathering carries meaning.
Everyone who works at Joyland is a Joylander.
Joylanders are people of all abilities, working side by side across roles and backgrounds. Meaningful work is shared here, allowing each person to contribute their strengths and grow through daily practice on the land.
Let your light shine.
Curious about this place—and the people who care for it?
We invite you to walk the land, share a cup of tea with our Joylanders, and listen as a part of our story unfolds.
